EDWARDS, Mr. Warner B.,Sr. - Age 88, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013 at McLaren Flint. Family and friends will gather in the sanctuary of Greater Emmanuel Temple 1117 E. Genesee Ave. Flint, MI 48505 on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 10:30AM, with service commencing promptly at 11AM. Pastor Melvin Davis, host pastor. Mr. Edwards will lie in state at Swanson Funeral Home 2210 M.L. King Ave. Flint, MI 48503 on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 and may be viewed 11AM-8PM. Interment River Rest/Sunset Hills Cemetery. Mr. Warner B. Edwards Sr. was born June 26, 1925 in Tupelo, Mississippi. The son of Wilse and Katherine Edwards. Mr. Edwards came to Flint in 1956 to work for General Motors, where he served until retiring from Fisher Body Plant Grand Blanc in 1987 and was a member of UAW Local 1292. Warner enjoyed being around his family and watching baseball on television. He leaves to cherish his memory: Norah L. Edwards; 3 sons, James Edwards, George (Travonda) Edwards and Winfred Edwards; 2 daughters, Carolyn Edwards and Marilyn Edwards all of Flint; 46 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pearlie Mae Edwards of Turrell, AR; brother-in-law, James Rankin of West Memphis, AR and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by: parents, Wilse and Katherine Edwards; 5 sons, Warner B. Edwards, Jr., Clyde Edwards, Charles Edwards, Wilse Edwards and Michael Edwards; 2 daughters, Birthia Thompson and Malita Edwards; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; special sisters-in-law, Lillie B. Plair and Annie B. Plair. The family would like to express special thanks to: Elder Melvin Davis and the Greater Emmanuel Temple Church Family.
